Is the admissions process competitive?
Dwight Global’s admissions process is designed to identify top student-athletes who are passionate about learning and can thrive in Dwight Global’s vigorous online academic environment. Dwight Global students typically are globally-minded, innovative, and self-motivated, and they are interested in sharing their diverse talents and experiences while pursuing their own sparks of genius in sport and academics.
How do colleges and universities perceive Dwight Global’s academic program?
Dwight Global students have gained admissions to many of the top colleges and universities in the world, including Columbia, Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Princeton, Duke, Penn, Vassar, Middlebury, Georgetown, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UVA, Michigan, and Wesleyan.
Dwight’s college guidance team has expertise in university admissions in many parts of the world, including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., continental Europe, and Asia. At Dwight Global, we carefully pair each student with an expert counselor who guides and supports them through the college process and helps them identify the college that is the best fit based on their academic profiles, personal interests, and aspirations.
Though regulations vary from country to country, Dwight Global graduates tend to be viewed similarly to graduates from bricks and mortar schools in terms of college admissions. Do I need to speak fluent English in order to be accepted?
Dwight Global’s courses are taught in English, and students must be proficient in English in order to succeed in Dwight Global’s online courses. During the admissions process, students are evaluated for oral, reading, and writing English proficiency. Supplemental English programs are available for qualifying students who need additional support in English to reach fluency.
How do I choose between AP, IB, and college-preparatory Honors and Standard classes?
Dwight Global offers multiple courses of study with classes offered at the Honors, Standard, AP, and IB level. We are thrilled to be the only online school to offer the academically rigorous IB Diploma Program. Students will have a course selection meeting with a Dean, who serves as the student’s academic advisor. The Dean, along with our College Counseling team, helps the student which course of study works best for their aspirations.
What countries do your teachers and students come from?
Our community is truly global, with students based in 39 countries, and 31 states in the United States alone.
Countries represented among our student and teacher body include: Argentina, the Bahamas, Bolivia, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
When does the school year begin and end?
Our academic year begins in September and ends in June.
Are students required to take an entrance exam?
Yes, students can choose to take the ISEE, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT. If none of these tests are available to you, you can request our internal math assessment. We will also require a graded writing sample from a history or English class.

Is there a school uniform for in-person students? Where can I buy this?
Some students may choose to pursue a blended program at Dwight School Dubai. There is a uniform for boys and girls including a PE Kit . One can order online or buy in local retail stores.
Can my son/daughter and I visit Dwight’s campus for a tour? Is there an online virtual tour?
As part of the admissions process, you may choose to visit a class or watch a class recording. As far as our campuses around the world, there is an online virtual tour of Dwight’s campus in New York! You can take a look here on our website. Dwight NY will soon be open for in-person tours again in the near future.
Dwight School Dubai is open for tours which take place each Tuesday and Thursday. To make a booking, please contact your ISD facilitator.
How far away is Dwight’s campus from ISD?
Dwight School Dubai is located in Sport City and is just a 5 minute walk from ISD
How often do classes meet? Is it different for online students than in-person?
Dwight Global classes meet for a synchronous session twice per week for 45 minutes per class. Every class is live, but if a student ever needs to miss class, every class is recorded as well. Students can always access class recordings on their own time. There are no classes on Fridays, as our students often need Fridays to travel or compete in tournaments.
When are the mid-term breaks?
In 2022-2023, Winter break is Monday, December 19 to Monday, January 2. Spring break is Monday, March 20 to Sunday, April 2.
Living at ISD Academy Campus:
Who will collect my child upon arrival to the airport?
When you communicate your time of arrival with our ISD Academy staff, we will arrange for a pickup from the airport by one of our dedicated drivers.
Will there be a dedicated point of contact for my child while there?
We will have several points of contact for your child. Upon confirmation of tuition payment, you will be provided with a contact number and email of a dedicated ISD facilities manager, your child’s head coach, and his or her education counselor.
How much pocket money is recommended to provide on a monthly basis?
Every necessity will be provided for each student at ISD Academy, including accommodation, three meals a day with snacks, and training kit. Extra allowance is at the parents’ discretion.
What kind of clothing is required?
Your child’s training kit is included in the tuition fee and will be provided upon arrival. We recommend sending them with comfortable clothes for school, workouts, and off-days. Students are encouraged to dress with a cultural awareness of the norms of the UAE.
Are utilities fees included within the fees?
Yes, utilities are included within accommodation fees.
How far is it to the nearest convenience stores?
Delivery is quick and cheap in Inspiratus Sports District. Using the various apps including Talabat, Careem, Noon etc., students will be able to get anything they could want delivered straight to their apartment door. However, there are also multiple convenience stores located on the Canal within a 5-minute walk of the on-site accommodation.
Is there public transport available?
For the ISD-organized group activities that students will have the opportunity to participate in, transportation will be provided. For non-ISD Academy activities, students will need to pay for their own transportation. This can be done through Uber, taxi services like Careem, or public transportation with busses and the Dubai metro.
